The Course:
This is a self paced beginner Violin course that will take you from knowing nothing at all to being able to play a short tune.
It is very methodical and moves slowly introducing a small new step each lesson so that you won't get overwhelmed and will build good habits and technique.
If you want it you will be able to get personal feedback from me via video or message!

About me:
I am a professional Violinist performing in a variety of situations. You'll mainly find me playing with Kings Chamber Orchestra as a section violinist or soloist, in care homes and hospitals, on a variety of recordings and media including the recent peckish bird food advert, out now (Jan 2024), and in my local church. I have also performed on coutless cruise ships. I graduated with a Bmus in Violin performance from Trinity College of Music in 2002 and I trained for 5 years to become a fully qualified Suzuki Violin teacher having now taught for over 20 years. I love sharing the love of music and I hope you'll join me on this journey!
What will I learn?
- What equipment is needed and how to set it up
- How to hold the bow
- How to hold the violin
- How to make a beautiful sound
- How to make a good left hand posture and use fingers to make different notes
- Very basic note reading and rhythms
- A short repeated section of Pachelbel's Canon
How much practice will I need to do?
- Each video is around 15 mins and is intended to be one day's practice session. I will tell you what to do in the video so you can follow along and won't need to think about what to practice. If you want to practice more on a particular day repeat the same or a previous video.

- If you practiced 5 times a week the course would take you one month, but it is self paced so you can take as long as you like.
What if I need to ask a question?
Messages: This is the quickest way to get a resopnse. You will be able to send a message in the chat box to ask me a question or to encourage other students.

Video Exchanges: It is encouraged to send a video when you would like to ask a question or if you would like extra feedback, and I will try to get back to you within a week with a response. Your videos and my response will also be able to be seen by other course members so we can all learn from each other. At the end of each section you will need to send a short video of what is requested so that you can get feedback from me, and so that you can go on to the next section. This doesn't need to be publicly shared if you don't want but it is very helpful to everyone if they can learn from your video and response.
When can I start?
If all goes to plan the course opens on 11th March 2024. Please sign up by filling in the form below, and on or before 11th March you will receive updates and more details about how to log in. Thank you!
